Holiday Treats – Quick Tips

It always seems that between December and January there are endless amounts of sweets, treats and goodies. So much so that it is almost hard to not be around them. We know this is an indulgent, busy time of year – but your  health is also important and we need to remember that.

If you are at a class party or celebration take a look at all the options and pick out 1 or 2 items (could be cookies, could be spinach dip) that you really want and then fill the rest of your plate with healthy options like veggies, fruit, lean protein and whole grains. (If it is just sweets and desserts have 1 or 2 cookies and then move away from the food and socialize with your friends or play a game)

It is also especially important to keep moving during the Holidays for a few reasons – when you exercise you are more likely to choose healthy options and you are also burning some calories to make up for that cookie!
