Want to lose weight while sitting in a chair or better yet sleeping? Sounds impossible, but campers attending Camp Endeavor in the Wisconsin Dells do just that, as the staff exercise physiologist Dan Dingmann explains, but not just that. “Our campers start, immediately upon arrival, a safe, slow, but progressive activity pattern increase that results in an increase in metabolism not only while being active but also between activity periods and even while sleeping. While any activity will increase your metabolism for at least the short term, it appears that resistive exercises or weight lifting will increase ones metabolism for up to 48 hours after the completion of the exercise.” The increase in metabolism and eating fresh whole foods results in effective, safe but dramatic weight loss.
