Michael Pollan – Food Rules

Rule #2

Don’t eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food.

Michael Pollan is on a quest for real foods. Much like we are at Camp Endeavor. We differ from a lot of camps in this regard. We know crash diets too low in calories aren’t sustainable and we know that they don’t work. Our bodies don’t want “diet” foods, or “low-fat” foods full of artificial ingredients. Our bodies want real foods that provide vitamins and nutrients.

This rule, taken from “Food Rules, An Eater’s Manual” is a great one. Simply stated, if you don’t know what an ingredient is or you can’t pronounce it? Don’t eat it!
